Linkin Park made a big announcement on Thursday, introducing Emily Armstrong as the group’s new lead singer and revealing plans for a world tour and new album.
The band — made up of Mike Shinoda, 47, Brad Delson, 46, and Dave Farrell, 47 — excited fans when they revealed that rocker Dead Sara, 38, would be their new singer during a live event.
The rock group also announced plans for their Zero World Tour, which kicks off on September 11 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
Linkin Park continued to surprise when they revealed their new single — their first new track since Chester’s death — titled The Emptiness Machine. It’s the title track from their upcoming album, From Zero.
They also announced that Colin Brittain, 37, a songwriter and producer for G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock, will join the group as drummer.
Their From Zero world tour will visit Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul and Bogota.
Pre-sale tickets for the tour will go on sale for the LP Underground fan club starting September 6. General ticket sales will begin the following day, September 7.
The band shared several clips from Thursday’s performance on their Instagram, including Emily singing The Emptiness Machine.
The event was streamed live and will be available to watch on Linkin Park’s official online channels for the next 24 hours.
Emily grew up in Los Angeles and co-founded the band Dead Sara with guitarist Siouxsie Medley in 2005.
Armstrong’s powerful vocals and the band’s energetic live performances quickly earned them a loyal following.
Dead Sara have released three studio albums: Dead Sara (2012), Pleasure to Meet You (2015) and Ain’t It Tragic (2021). They have also released several EPs and singles throughout their career.
According to the press release, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell and Hahn ‘have been quietly getting back together in recent years’ and ‘rather than ‘trying to restart the band’, they have worked with a variety of musicians and ‘found a special bond with Armstrong and Brittain’.

‘Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. The album’s title refers to both those humble beginnings and the journey we’re on,’ Shinoda shares.
‘Sonically and emotionally, it speaks to the past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound, yet fresh and vibrant. It was created with a deep appreciation for our new and long-time bandmates, our friends, family, and fans. We’re proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and excited about the journey ahead.’
He adds that the band feels “truly empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant, energetic new music we’ve created together.”
